Lifestyle | Future Baby Names Tag

Various baby name tags are doing the rounds in the worlds of blogging and YouTube at the moment, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. I have recently come across the 'Baby Names' tag on YouTube, which features some rather interesting questions so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Just for clarification (any my boyfriends peace of mind, should he read this by any chance) I'm not planning on having a baby any time soon; hence why I've added the world future in the title of the tag.

1. What is your favourite boy and girl's name from the top UK names list?
For this question I consulted the Baby Centre's top UK names list for 2016.

For a boy I adore the name Noah (#3 for 2016). I have always loved biblical names for boys, despite not being particularly religious, and Noah has always ranked high on my list.

My favourite girls name from the list was Darcie (#34). Spelling really matters to me in regards to baby names, as I prefer something which is spelt a little different to normal. For this reason I particularly liked the fact that it is spelt with an ie as opposed to ay.

2. What is your least favourite boy and girl's name from the top UK names list?
Again, this is coming from Baby Centre's top UK names list for 2016. I feel a little bit awful for naming my least favourite names as I don't want to ever cause offence but I guess everyone has their own name preferences don't they?

My least favourite boys name from the list is Ethan (#9). I couldn't really give an in depth reason as to why it's my least favourite, I just can't imagine ever using it for my future children.

Out of the top UK girls names my least favourite has to be Willow (#42). Truth be told I just don't like the idea of naming my daughter after the crazy tree in Harry Potter.

3. If you had twins, what would you name them? (G/G, B/B, B/G)
Double trouble. This question took a lot of thinking as you've definitely got to pick names which work well together. But here we go:

I would name twin girls Edie and Nina. For twins I really like both names being the same length, so two four letter names works well.

Twin boys would be named Finley and Freddie. I'm not too sure how I feel about having twins with the same first initial but I feel like this pairing as a lovely ring to it so I'm a bit tied.

Should I be blessed with one boy and girl in the future I would name them Jonah and Elodie. Jonah is another biblical name I adore and I think it goes really nicely with the beautiful name Elodie.

4. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be?
I'm quite fond of my own name so wouldn't really change it, but I do prefer being called Chlo by the people closest to me.

5. You have 4 children, any gender. Their first names all have to start with the same letter. What would their names be?
For this question I decided to make it fair with two boys names and two girls names, all starting with the letter S. The girls would be called Sofie and Sienna, which are two names I think are really pretty and a little bit different (especially with the spelling of Sofie) which is lovely. Their brothers would be called Shawn and Spencer

6. What's your favourite animal-inspired name?
Before now I've never considered choosing names inspired by the animal kingdom, but a quick google and I've discovered some real gems. I love the name Leona for a girl (meaning Lioness).

7. What's your favourite colour-inspired name?
I do really love names inspired by the rainbow, although I do prefer colour-inspired girls names. The name Rubie is one of my favourites, but I also love Scarlett and Sienna

8. What are your top 3 favourite boy names?
My top three favourite boys names are all names that I have mentioned previously in the tag: Noah, Jonah and Freddie. I love that they are all a little bit different, although they are becoming more popular in recent years.

9. What are your top 3 favourite girl names?
Condensing the list of baby names on my phone into a top three was tricky but I think I've managed it. I adore the girls name Nina which isn't too common at the moment and it's a family name which makes it even more special. I also love the name Emilie (or Emily but I prefer the more unusual spelling). One of my other favourite girls names is Luna

10. What are your favourite celebrity baby names?
I could honestly talk about celebrity baby names all day, there's so many lovely and unique ones.
Zooey Deschanel's daughter is called Elsie which is a beautiful name. I also adore the name Everly, the daughter of Channing Tatum and his gorgeous wife.

11. What is your ultimate guilty pleasure name?
One of my favourite baby names - and not one that my boyfriend is particularly fond of - is Lennon, for a little girl. I'm a massive John Lennon fan and just think it would be a really pretty name.

12. What are your most hated baby names?
I feel really rather rude sitting here and slating baby names but ho-hum. I'm not a particular fan of 'virtue names' such as Faith, Trinity and Patience. I can't really say as for why but they are just never names which have taken my fancy.

13. Choose a baby name based on a food/drink.
This question took a little bit of research as I wasn't too clued up on food and drink inspired baby names. Some of them were a little strange I'll admit - how is bacon a baby name? - but I did discover Anise (a spice) which is a beautiful name for a little girl. I also love the girls names Brie and Coco

14. Choose a baby name based on a month.
I'll admit, I have a real pet hate for month-inspired names. At a push I'd say my favourite is August but I'll steer clear from any such names if you don't mind.

15. Choose a baby name from a movie.
As it is my favourite film series (and book series for that matter) it's unsurprising that my favourite baby name from a movie comes from Harry Potter. I have mentioned it earlier in the tag but I adore the name Luna for a little girl. It's a really pretty name and I'd love to use it for a future daughter.

Have you got some future baby names in mind? I'd love to hear them.
