Review: Lush Enchanted Eye Cream

As the weather was a tad on the unpleasant side during January, I started to notice that the skin around my eyes, particularly on my eyelids, was getting a bit dry. And so the hunt began to a fabulous eye cream that could solve my problem.

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that whenever I'm in need of an incredible skincare product, my first stop is always Lush. I adore Lush, because their products are always so gentle on the skin, and unlike some other brands, they always achieve what they claim to. So when I came across their Enchanted Eye Cream I had very high hopes, and I'm delighted to say that it one hundred percent lived up to my expectations

A refreshing, gentle eye cream for the delicate eye area, perfect for day or night.

There’s no sorcery involved with this wonder cream. We've simply used organic oils and lavender honey water to wave a magic wand over fine lines, giving the precious eye area a boost to keep it firm and supple.

I use my ring finger to gently apply this cream under and around my eyes and on my eyelids, and I use the product twice daily - once in the morning, and once in the evening.

The first thing I noticed about the eye cream, is a little goes a long way. You only need one tiny pump to sort out both eyes. Because of this I'm expecting the tiny bottle to last me a good while, which will definitely save a few pennies in the long run.

With this product, you get results from day one. I popped some of this little beauty on, on Sunday evening when my poor little eyes were in a very bad condition and by Monday morning they were in a much better condition. I was actually pleasantly surprised at just how quickly I saw results, it was like magic! After the third night of using this product my eyes were as good as new.

I've continued to use this cream each night since and it's kept my eyes in a lovely condition, even through this nightmare weather. My eyes are considerably less puffy, and it really helps to reduce dark under eye circles, something I've had a problem with in the past.

This product also helps to keep my eyes awake and refreshed throughout the day, after use in the morning.

Overall, this eye cream has been an absolute life saver and it'll definitely be on my repurchase list. I can't reccomend this more if you're looking for natural eye cream that isn't cruel to the skin and can solve all the problems you typically see in the skin around the eyes.

Prom Preperations: Prom Dress Inspiration

When you say prom, we girls all think of that perfect dress don't we? One of the best things about prom dresses is there's so many styles, so many colours, and dresses to suit every single budget on the planet.

I've spent the last few months brainstorming some dress ideas on the beauty that is pinterest, to give me lots of ideas on styles and colours, so I'm a little bit more prepared when I finally get to go dress shopping, although I know I'll be like a little kid in a sweet shop when I get there.

Today I thought I'd share with you three of the pinterest dresses I've fallen in love with.

I already know I'd like a long fairly fitted, dress in a neutral or pastel shade, so I've condensed my search to dresses that match this description.

Up first we have this neutral sparkly Sherri Hill beauty of a dress. Sherri Hill has to be one of my favourite dress designers, the only downside being most of their dresses are miles out of my budget. I love how well the sparkly bodice of this dress contrasts with the simplicity of the A line skirt; it works so well. It's got a bit of a vintage esque to it and I also love how this dress has a different neckline to your typical prom dresses. It'll definitely make your dress stand out from the other girls, that little bit more. Normally I wouldn't be one for a dress that's full of sparkle but I do love this dress, and it'll definitely be a style of dress I think I'll be keeping an eye out for when I'm off dress shopping. If you're interested in this dress, it's Sherri Hill design 21053 and you can pick it up in the uk for around £360.

Dress number two is a stunning cream/light pink dress with a stunning sparkly one shoulder strap. I love the simplicity of this dress, and the sweetheart neckline is to die for. I'm not sure of the designer but I'm sure after a bit of online research you'll be able to find it out. It has a stunning floaty skirt that looks perfect for doing a bit of dancing in!

Next we have a stunning Sherri Hill dress that I've fallen utterly in love with. It features an incredible collared neckline, which is made of a gorgeous lace. The bodice of this dress is very fitted and there's beautiful sparkly belt at the waistline, seperating the bodice from the pleated A line skirt. If I had the budget, I'd choose this dress in shade "Light Green" (as shown on the image) however you can pick this dress up in a range of different colours. I know I sound like I'm advitising this dress, based on the amount of adjectives I've used in this description but I just love it so much. I couldn't track this dress down on any UK Prom Dress websites but if you're still interested it's design 21334.

Prom Preperations What Do You Want To See?

Let's Have A Little Catch Up

Hello you lovely lot,

I feel like this is a long overdue post. We haven't sat down and had a good old catch up for a long time have we? I don't know how many of you are fans of posts where I ramble on about my life and all that jazz, but I've always loved reading posts where I can have a little nosey into the lives of other bloggers, so I thought I'd join the party.

Let's start with the worst... school. I'm currently in year 11 so my school life is mayhem. There just aren't enough hours in the day to fit in all the revision and homework we're expected to do. I'm studying English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, German, History and RE, and I have to admit, I am enjoying these subjects a large part more than I thought I would be. I have set my sights high, as I'm aiming to achieve A's in as many of my subjects as possible, although this may be a bit of a challenge in the cases of german and what not. But I'm determined I'm going to knuckle down and work as hard as I can.

I'm also in the midst of the nightmare that is preparations for sixth form. I've applied to join the sixth form and continue my studies at the school I currently attend, and I had my interview last month. It actually went surprisingly well, as I was lucky enough to be interviewed by one of my favourite teachers, which made the whole experience considerably easier. I was informed that I had been accepted by all of the subjects I'd applied to do, which obviously is fantastic news. So now I just have to wait until results day in August, when I discover if I've met the entry requirements to the sixth form. I've applied to study English Literature, History, Philosophy and Ethics, and Sociology. However, I'm currently debating switching Sociology for Maths. Continuing to study Maths after my GCSE's will be a challenge, as although I'm not necessarily bad at maths, it's just a hard A Level. However I think it's a challenge I'm willing to take as I know having it on my CV will be a huge bonus when applying for uni, when that time comes. If you're also in the midst of choosing your A Levels, what are you taking? Or, if you're already taking/ have taken your A Levels, what did you take.

The next few months are going to be tough for me, as I get very anxious when faced with all the pressure that comes along with the exams. I'm trying to focus on all the lovely things I've got planned for July and August, once they're all over, to help get me through it all.

On the 18th July it's my Prom, and if you read my little introduction post to the Prom Preperations series I've started (if you missed that post, you can have a little nosey here if you so wish), you'll know just how excited I am. I'm hopefully off dress shopping in half term, which is very very exciting, and I'll make sure I'll fill you in with all the gossip once I've been. At the end of July I'm off on a jolly holiday in Greece with my family. Greece is one of my favourite countries, and I'm so excited to have two or so weeks of sun, sea, sand and non-stop relaxing. I'm also looking forward to treating myself to a new holiday wardrobe, as a girl can never have too many bikini's can she? Hopefully if I keep my mind on all these lovely things, I may be able to cut down my anxiety a little bit.

Now let's get on to all the latest on this blog. I'm currently posting on a Monday (posts as part of my Prom Preperations series), Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (book review's as part of the My Weekly Read series). Every other Wednesday (as of the 19th) I'll going to be having a lovely blogger entertain you with a guest post! I've been in contact with a few lovely bloggers already so I'm excited to share all their magical posts with you! It's hard to pick a favourite of her posts, but as a book worm, I've really enjoyed her 'Fab Fiction Friday' series, so I really reccomend you go check that out. I've chatted to Alex through twitter a fair bit recently, and she's a lovely lovely girl so make sure you go give her blog lots of love.

And I think that's everything! I have to admit, I do love these posts where I ramble on about anything and everything as I do suffer from a never-ending chattering mind. Let me know if you enjoy reading these sorts of posts and I'll make sure they reappear reguarly!

Prom Preparations: What Do You Want To See?

In my opinion, Prom is one of the best parts of year 11. It's a night where you get to dress up in all your gladrags and party the night away with all the people you've gone to school with since year 7. It marks the end of the five years you've spent together as a year group and as you're all going your separate ways, whether it be to sixth form, college or on another path, it'll probably be the last time you're all together. It's going to be a night that you'll remember forever.

It is officially 5 months and 12 days until my prom, and as you might have guessed, I'm a tad on the excited side.

I've just started preparing for the big event and I thought that I would start a little Prom Preparations series where I take you along for the ride.

I know a fair few teen bloggers are in year 11 so are therefore preparing for prom, so hopefully this will be a help. Even if it's not your prom this year, then hopefully this will help you in preparing for parties and all that jazz.

I've got a few ideas for what sort of thing I'm going to write about but I want to know what type of thing you want to see. I'm happy to look into writing anything, so leave me a little comment letting me know what you want!

My Weekly Read (No. 3) ~ Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

 

It's Week Three of the 'My Weekly Read' Series!

'My Weekly Read' is a little series where I read a book between Monday and Saturday and then post a review for you all on the Sunday. I'm going to be reading books that I've never picked up before and are relatively unknown so I can introduce you all to some fabulous new books.

 

Today I'm going to be reviewing Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

Halley has always followed in the wake of her best friend, Scarlett. But when Scarlett learns that her boyfriend has been killed in a motorcycle accident, and that she's carrying his baby, she's devastated. For the first time ever, Scarlett really needs Halley. Their friendship may bend under the weight, but it'll never break--because a true friendship is a promise you keep forever.

I had high expectations for this book, as I'm a huge fan of the authors other books, however I do have to admit I was a tad on the disappointed side. I think had this book been written by another author I would have been impressed, but the minute I see the name Sarah Dessen on the front of a book I immediately believe the story is going to be flawless and I'm sorry to say that this book did not live up to those expectations. Don't get me wrong, it is a great story, but it wasn't what I was expecting.



The protagonist of this story is fifteen year old Halley. I have to admit I was suprised about how much I liked the character. Normally with books like this, it's the secondary characters that are the most exciting but I found that with this book, there wasn't a character I didn't take a liking to. My favourite of the characters in this book has to be Scarlett. She was such a strong female character, and the tackled the issues she was facing was amazing.



I loved the plot of this book. It's so intriguing. I'm a huge fan of books following teen pregnancies as every plot is different and this book was no exception. The idea of the secondary character being the pregnant one rather than the protagonist was amazing, and it's something you don't normally see. Scarlett's pregnancy wasn't in any way portrayed as pitch perfect, which really added to the realism of the story. I also loved how the secondary plots, such as the relationship between Halley and Macon, were also fantastic - it really added to story.



I also liked how pretty much nothing was left open ended. You see too many books where you never actually get to find out the result of half of the events, and this definitely wasn't one of those books.
I would however, love to read a follow up book, following Scarlett's life as a teen mother as I feel that you could easily fill another book with the ups and downs of having a baby at a young age.



Overall, I did enjoy this book, but in my opinion it definitely wasn't one of the authors best. It's a great summer read, and it's the type of book I know I'll be reading again.
