My Top 3 Lip Balms!

A good lip Balm is a staple autumn/winter beauty product. I get really dry lips as it gets colder so I always like to have a lip balm at the ready to help get my lips back into a good condition. I've tried so many lip products over the last year or two but I thought i'd share three of my favourites ~

1 ~ Soap and Glory 'A Great Kisser' Lip Balm

I've been using this lip balm for a while and it is so good. I have it in the flavour Sweet Coconut but to be completely honest, I picked up that flavour by mistake! It's all good though because I've fallen in love with it anyway. This is the perfect lip balm if you want one that you don't have to keep reapplying constantly, as it lasts for so long, and it isn't sticky like many lip products are. It smells insanely good and you only need a tiny amount to cover your lips so one tin lasts for ages.

You can purchase this product for £5.00 for an 18g tin in a Boots store or online here.

2 ~ Lush 'Honey Trap' Lip Balm

I think Lush do some of the best lip balms and this is my personal favourite. It's a white chocolate lip balm that contains so many lovely ingredients such as vanilla and honey, and it's so amazing at repairing dry lips. I honestly can't go an hour without using it (even though it lasts forever on your lips anyway) and it keeps my lips so soft and smooth. You only need to use a tiny bit at a time, as with this product a little goes a long way so one tin lasts forever (even if you use it constantly like me). The tin is quite tiny so it's perfect for popping in a handbag or school bag, or even just in your pocket. It tastes amazing too.

You can purchase this product for £5.75 for an 8g pot in a Lush store or online here.

3 ~ Figs and Rouge Lip Balm

This was a Glossybox product and it's amazing! I'm not going to ramble on about it for too long as I did a full review on it in June, which you can read here, but i'll give you a brief review. I have this lip balm in the shade Coco Rose and it's a great product if you want something that will add a little sparkle and colour to your lips whilst keeping them moisturised and lovely. I apply it by squeezing a tiny bit (you honestly only need the smallest amount - it goes a long way with this product) and then applying with a lip brush. This lip balm lasted all day on my lips and left them feeling so lovely.

You can purchase this product for £4.95 for a 12.5ml tube from FeelUnique.com here.

Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned? What did you think?
And can you recommend any other lip balms?

OOTD: Formal Outfit

Today my amazing mum graduated from university after doing a year course to do with being a nurse (i'm not sure the exact course title) so at lunch today I left school and went to a ceremony at Peterborough Cathedral! This is the first time I've dressed up in a while so I thought i'd take a few photos and share with you what I wore...

(sorry for the bad picture - only certain people can work my camera well and my sister clearly isn't one of them)

Dress H&M
Shoes Topshop

(My photo of my makeup from today isn't working for some reason so this is the best you're going to get - sorry!)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Ivory
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer Ivory
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Sandstorm
Rimmel 100% Waterproof Mascara Black
Barry M Lipstick Pink Suede

My makeup was quite boring as I had about 15 minuets to eat lunch and get ready before i had to leave to get to the ceremony so I just topped up my school makeup (foundation, concealer, powder and mascara) and added some lipstick. As you can probably see, i'm slightly obsessed with Rimmel at the moment! To be honest, I was planning on wearing a Rimmel lipstick too but i thought having a full face of one brand is a bit o.t.t!

Have you got one brand you just use constantly?

Overthinking and Anxiety

This is going to be a slightly different post to the ones you'd normally see on my blog. For this post, there's going to be nothing about beauty or clothes, it's just a post about overthinking and anxiety, something I and so many people struggle with. It's going to be more of a post where I just ramble and let my thoughts take over the typing, so I can pour my thoughts out and hopefully help at least one person on the way.

I have a range of different things going on in my life right now that are just causing anxieties to take over me. The minute one of these things seems to be getting under control another one pops up out of nowhere in a sort of "oh you were almost completely anxiety free, that isn't going to happen - here's something else to worry about" fashion, but that's anxiety for you. I'm not going to go into too much detail about these anxieties because I don't see how you reading about someone else's worries is going to help your own but I'll  speak a bit about one of the biggest things. It's something I haven't been open about with many people but I just need to let out.

Most of the anxieties i'm struggling with at the moment circle around one event from around February. I say one event, but really that day was just the start of something that's been going on since then. To put it briefly, I had been told something by a friend a few months before the day i'm talking about and I hadn't been sure whether or not to believe what she was saying. I'd let the worry of the possibility i'd been lied to consume me for months but then I decided I couldn't take it anymore and one of my other friends tried to help me find out the truth. Basically, we were told she had been lying by someone else that was involved, but then I had the added worry of not actually knowing who was telling the truth: this person or my friend.

The anxiety of not knowing what it going on and not knowing the truth about this situation has overtaken most of my mind since February and has affected me in more ways that I can describe. I haven't let many people in and told them how much it's affecting me, and I know I should but i can't really describe the situation vocally without sounding like a complete muppet. I've sort of accepted the fact that i might not ever know the truth, mainly down to the fact that i don't have the confidence to confront the people involved face to face but it still hasn't really helped get rid of these anxieties.

I spend hours on end just simply sitting and thinking about this situation and juggling the possible truths in my mind, and as much as i really just want to stop doing this and let it all go, i can't.

I'm sorry you're having to read my ramblings (if anyone actually is) but as you've probably guessed, this has been bothering me so much that i can't stop typing. This has actually been my first blog post that I've found really easy to write - it's all just come out without me even pausing to think. My description of the main cause of my anxieties right now probably makes absolutely no sense to anyone but me, but to be completely honest, i don't care! It felt indescribably good to let it all out. But now i'm getting to my solutions to try and stop myself overthinking, and hopefully this will be the bit that could help a fellow overthinker or anxiety sufferer.

The first thing i try to do to clear my head and stop myself thinking about it to much is visiting something called The Thoughts Room which is a part of The Quiet Place Project. Basically, you go onto the thoughts room and you can type your feelings into a box similar to one like a facebook status, and then you watch as your feelings disappear into a starry sky. Only you can see what you write in the thoughts room and it's a brilliant way of freeing your mind. I'm a regular to the thoughts room and i find it's best used in the dark with your headphones in (it plays calming music).

Secondly (and i know this will make me sound insane but just go with it - it helps) i create stories in my head about things i wish could happen. And sometimes i take it one step further and create 'Secret Boards' on Pinterest (you can have a maximum of 3 at one time and they're boards only you can see) of pictures to go with this story. Having this place in my head i can go to when i'm overcome with anxiety has helped me so much, and has actually helped to calm me down when I've had a panic attack. It's important though that you don't let these dream situations take over your mind as that can affect you even more. They should be something you wish would happen but know that they probably won't, rather than something you set your heart on happening.

The third and final thing i'm going to suggest as a way of relaxing and getting rid of anxieties is talking. Now i know this sounds so basic and almost stupid of me to mention, but it's something that has really helped. We all need someone we can rant to or cry to, someone we can lean on for support and i'm lucky enough to have a few people who fit that description and have helped me loads with dealing with anxieties and panic attacks. It's hard to open up to people, even those you trust the most, because you can almost create a barrier between the worries in your head and real life, and it can be hard to learn to voice these worries but once you get rid of this barrier, it really helps. You can choose who you open up to, and should choose someone you trust and you know won't judge you for what you say, and who will just sit and listen, and offer advice if you choose to accept it.

So this was my view on anxiety and overthinking and the things i do to help overcome these things. I'm sorry this was a huge explosion of my thoughts and feelings but I've found in the past that reading someone else open up can actually help me in the long run, and i hope this does the same to you.

If this has helped you at all and you want me to write a post on anything around this subject (panic attacks, anxiety etc) then just let me know.

Lots of Love

The Autumn Tag!

When I was reading though the latest posts from all the lovely blogs I subscribe to, I saw that Alice from TheMakeUpSupportGroup has done the Autumn Tag! This looks like such a fun tag so I thought i'd give it a go!

Favourite Thing About It?
The cosy nights in with a blanket, wearing your comfiest clothes!

Favourite Drink?
Hot Chocolate! Starbucks and Costa do amazing ones!

Favourite Scent/Candle?
I know this is more of a winter scent rather than an autumn one but I love the christmasy scents you start to see more of over the next few months! I actually have the most amazing smelling candle in my room that I had lit all the time during this season last year, and I brought another one as it's getting to that time of year again but I can't remember what the scent is called!

Best Lipstick?
Barry M Lip Paint in the shade 150 or Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 08

Go To Moisturiser?
Either Lush Enzymion or Lush Celestial

Go To Colours for the Eyes?
I like neutral colours for the Autumn/Winter season.

Favourite Music or Band/Singer to listen to?
My music taste doesn't change really per season but in my opinion it becomes ok to listen to openly listen to Christmas music in about October (although I do actually listen to it all year round) so I like to listen to quite a few different Christmas albums. One of my favourites is Under the Mistletoe by Justin Bieber (don't judge me - it's a fab Christmas album).

Favourite Outfit to Wear?
I love jeans with a oversized jumper and scarf, paired with some nice boots.

Autumn Treat?
I treat myself to lots of new jumpers, scarves and jeans in autumn as they become my staple clothes. I also like to get some new boots.

Favourite Place To Be?
I love being at home! But I also love it when my whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc.) go to my aunties house in Surrey for a few days because it's so chilled and there's lots of walking the dogs in the forests, family sunday lunches and all the lovely things like that. This normally happens in late December as a christmasy get together so I guess it's more winter than autumn but i'm going to say it anyway.

I tag you all to do this tag! If you give it a go, comment the link so I can have a peek!

Lush Favourites

I was asked by the lovely Rebecca to do a 'Lush Favourites' post so I thought i'd do that today!

Now, let me make something clear from the start, this is likely to end up being the worlds longest blog post. If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll probably know about my lush obsession! My skin literally lives and breathes Lush. I must have tried so many Lush products and it's the only real brand I use daily, so picking my favourites was so hard! I tried to avoid the whole hair and bath/shower products because I would have been there forever trying to choose my favourites, so this post is going to have a bit of a skin/body care theme. Just to put my obsession into perspective for you, here's one corner of my dressing table, which I call my 'Lush corner'...

I do have so many more lush products spread out around my room but these 9 products are the ones I use daily. I told you I was obsessed!

And here are a few (I say a few - there's really a lot) of my favourite products~

Grease Lightning
I can't remember the first time I used grease lightning, I've been using it for so long! It's my all time favourite spot treatment! I use it each night on whatever spots/blemishes I have and then when I wake up in the morning they're either gone or less noticeable. The only downside to this product is it sort of puts a layer of product over your skin rather than going into your skin so you wake up looking like your skin is peeling, when really it's just the product.

Mask of Magnaminty
This is my personal favourite of the Lush face masks. I honestly can't rate this product high enough! It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and really helps to bat away any blemishes. You can actually feel it working while its on and it's really easy to remove! And the tub lasts you ages so it's really worth the money.

Dream Cream
Apologies for the fact that I don't have a photo of the actual product, only the tub, but my laptop is having a bit of an off day and doesn't seem to want to upload the photo to blogger! But it a pale thick cream. I first brought Dream Cream on my birthday this year and I seemed to have been a bit late to the party with this product. Everyone seemed to have been obsessing over it months before I was for some reason but I have it now and I love it! It leaves my skin so soft and It smells insane. The best thing about this product is it's perfect for all over your body.

Ultrabland
I'm not going to ramble on about this product because I did a full review of it about a week ago, which you can read here. But I literally worship this cleanser and i'd really recommend it to anyone with blemish/spot prone skin as it really helps to clear up your skin. I honestly couldn't live without this cleanser!

Tea Tree Water
I use this toner water with my Ultrabland cleanser to remove my make-up and it's one of the best toners I've ever used! It's so easy to use and it smells absolutely amazing! It really helps to clear your skin so it's perfect for blemish prone skin.

Sweet Lips
Lush sadly don't do this scrub anymore but they still do it in "Popcorn" "Mint Julips" and "Bubblegum". These scrubs taste amazing and they do such brilliant things to your lips!

What are your favourite Lush products? And have you tried any of these products?

13 Personal Questions Tag

I came home from a bit of a rubbish day at school to see I've reached 50 followers on my blog! This was an amazing surprise and it honestly couldn't have come at a better time!

Thankyou so much to everyone who takes the time to read my ramblings - I can't put it into words how much I appreciate it!

To celebrate me reaching 50 followers I thought i'd do the '13 Personal Questions Tag' I've seen this tag floating around the blogging world and I thought it seems like a fun way for you to get to know me better! Here we go ~

What drink do you order at Starbucks?
A grande Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino Blended Crème - the nicest things in the whole world.

What's one thing in your closet you couldn't live without?
My River Island light blue super skinny jeans! They are the world's most comfy jeans and they make my legs look fab, if I do say so myself, so they're perfect!

What's one thing people don't know about you?
People don't know for a reason!

What's one thing you want to do before you die?
Complete every single thing on my bucket list!

What is one food you couldn't live without?
Ben & Jerry's Phish food ice cream of course! If you haven't tried it, I demand you go to the shops, buy yourself the biggest pot of phish food you can find and eat every single bit of it (when you've finished reading this of course).

What's one quote you live by?
If you read my blog regularly you will have seen my 'Confessions of a Beauty Blogger' tag where I was asked a similar question and me being me, I had to give a long complicated-ish answer with more than one quote! I still can't choose between my four favourite quotes from the musical Wicked but I love love love these quotes ~

"It's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap"
"I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game"
"Everyone deserves the chance to fly"
"I'm through excepting limits cause someone says they're so"

Does anyone actually have one quote that they love over all of the others?

What's one thing you like and dislike about the blogging community?
I love how lovely and friendly every single blogger is! Everyone's always up for a chat and that's so nice! And to be honestly I can't think of something I dislike...

What's your number one song on iTunes?
I don't actually have 1 overall favourite song at the moment, i have quite a few that i love equally ~

Fallin' For You by R5
Fall by Justin Bieber
Again and Again by Ben Pryer
Here Comes Forever by R5
When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars
I Want U Bad by R5

What kind of style would you describe yourself as having?
I don't think i have one set style that i follow, i think it's sort of a mixture of a few - quite girly yet comfy with quite a bit of vintage in there.

What's your favourite number?
16!

Two hobbies?
Photography and scrapbooking (and yes i'm 15, not 85).

Two pet peeves?
When you find a really lovely item of clothing in a shop and they have every size but yours.
When people stand behind me when i'm on my laptop or phone and read what i'm doing.

Your guilty pleasure?
The soundtracks of musicals... my iPod is full of them.

I tag you ALL to do this tag!

And thankyou again for subscribing to my blog and taking the time to read my ramblings and comment your views. It means the world!

September Empties

I'm one of those people who never finishes products because I get of bored of them or I put them in my drawer and forget about them, but I've finally managed to finish enough products to do another empties post, over 3 months after my last one. So here we go ~

Lush Angels On Bare Skin Fresh Facial Cleanser
This must be my second or third pot of this cleanser and don't get me wrong, it's a fab cleanser if you just want something that washes everything off your face, but as someone with blemish-prone skin I need a cleanser that helps stop breakouts and I didn't find that this product did that. I do think this cleanser would be perfect for someone with clearer skin though, as it isn't a bad product.

Repurchase? Maybe in the future, but not whilst my skin is bad.

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask
I first picked up this face mask a while back and I love it! It's one of my top 3 Lush face masks for helping with blemishes, and my skin always looks and feels better after I've used it. I'd really recommend this product to anyone with blemish-prone skin.

Repurchase? Yes.

Clean &Clear Deep Action Cream Wash
It's taken me forever to finish this face wash because it's a product I've found I don't get on brilliantly with so I tend to only use it if I have run out of another wash. I found that it left my skin fairly red after I've used it and it didn't really help to avoid blemishes.

Repurchase? No.

Lush Cupcake Fresh Face Mask
This face mask is one of my favourite lush products and it has been for a while. It's made especially for teenage skin so it's perfect to help calm breakouts. The best thing about this mask is it's a chocolate face mask (it actually contains cocoa powder and cocoa powder) and it smells insanely good which makes using it even better.

Repurchase? Definitely.

Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer
There are both bad and good things about this primer. As a primer, it's fab! It makes my make-up last all day and it helps stop the make-up get into my pores. However, as for it being 'anti-blemish' I don't know if that's true as I haven't found it to make any difference to my skin.

Repurchase? Probably.

Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo
If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I worship this shampoo. I love the tousled look and this shampoo really helps me achieve the look without putting any effort into it! I've used this product for ages and I don't think i'll be stopping anytime soon!

Repurchase? Definitely.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing and Toning Lotion
I purchased this product a few months ago when I was on the search for a cleanser that helped prevent breakouts and sadly this wasn't the one. I didn't really notice any difference in my skin after using. It does both cleanse and tone your skin at the same time though and that saves lots of time.

Repurchase? No.

Have you used any of these products? What did you think?

Review: Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

I purchased the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser when I updated my skincare routine about a month ago and I've fallen in love with it already. It's really become my staple skincare product and I haven't gone a day without using it since I brought it.

This is what Lush say about Ultrabland ~

Ultra effective, ultra gentle face cleanser

A rich, soft, oily cleansing cream that cares gently for all skin types.
Softens the skin whilst thoroughly cleaning it – this product is super effective at its job.
Based on an ancient beeswax and vegetable oil formula from the times of Galen, the Greek physician and philosopher, this product will lift dirt, grease and make up from the skin, without stripping away your skin's natural defences.

I use this cleanser to both remove my makeup in the evening and give my face a bit of a clean in the morning and it's perfect for both.

To use it you just apply it dry onto a face of makeup (TIP: Make sure you put you hair out of your face before you do this! I forgot a few nights ago so I got it all in my hair! It made my hair all sticky and horrible so I had to wash it again the next morning!). The best thing about this cleanser is that it removes all types of makeup, so put it all over your skin, eyes, lips etc. You have two different ways of removing it: you can either wash it off with a warm flannel, or you can do what I do and remove it with some toner on a cotton pad (I use the Lush Tea Tree Water toner - it's perfect for blemish-prone skin.). This removes the cleanser taking every single bit of your makeup, grease and dirt off with it.

One of the best things about the Ultrabland Cleanser is how good it is for your skin. It doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils, which so many cleansing products do. If (like me) you suffer from blemish prone skin this cleanser contains Rose Water and Honey which are super good for helping clear the skin. The honey is an antiseptic and helps to soothe the skin, and the rose water helps to reduce redness. I've found in the month or so that I've used the product my skin has cleared up hugely.

If you have blemish prone skin I would recommend putting away all your other skincare products (including things like face masks) for about two weeks - maybe longer - and just work with this cleanser and one of the amazing lush toners to remove it. One of the members of staff in my local lush had recommended doing this to me and it has helped my skin so much. As I wasn't putting anywhere near as much things onto my face, my skin was so much cleaner and it really helped. I even stopped using a moisturiser (although if you still want to moisturise i'd recommend using one of the lush moisturisers) and I actually didn't notice because the cleanser does such a fab job of retaining moisture. I've been finding it so amazing that i've actually decided to stick with the routine of just using this product and a toner (possibly with a bit of moisturiser if my skin's feeling dry), with a few occasional face masks here and there.

The Ultrabland Cleanser is priced at £6.95 for 45g or £10.95 for 100g. This may seem like a large amount of money compared to the likes of Simple and Clean&Clear but I've been using the 45g pot for a month and I still haven't finished it. In the long run this product works out as cheaper.

I'd recommend this product to you if you suffer from blemish/spot prone skin or if you just fancy giving your skin a bit of a break from using lots of skin care products. If you give it a try, let me know what you think!

Overall I would rate this product 5*

Have you tried this product/a similar product? What did you think?

Lots of Love

August Favourites

As we're now into September I thought I'd share with you a few of my favourite things from August!

First up is my Topshop Nail Polish in the shade Flamingo Coral. This polish was featured in my London Beauty and Jewellery Haul and it has become my favourite polish! I'd never used a coral polish before now but I've completely fallen in love with it.

I'm also loving my Soap and Glory A Great Kisser Lip Balm! It's my favourite lip balm at the moment and my lips have been in such an amazing condition since I started using it.

I brought the Rimmel London BB cream for my trip to Turkey and it is amazing! I wanted something that gave me a good coverage but was light on my skin and this ticked all the boxes. I wore it when I was in the pool and it stayed on my face the whole time, even when my face was accidentally splashed with water a few times! It's honestly the best BB cream I've tried!

I've also loved the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser. I use this to take my make-up off and it's amazing! All you do is cover your face with it (it's fab at removing eye make-up) and then wipe it off with a toner. It's really helping to clear up my skin and I honestly couldn't recommend it more.

Finally we have the L'Oreal Studio Matt & Messy Shine Free Salt Spray. I brought this about a month ago and it has been my staple hair product this summer. It works so well and it doesn't leave your hair feeling sticky and horrible like other salt sprays I've tried.

So those were my August favourites! If you have any questions about any of the products I've mentioned jut let me know!

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?

Lots of Love

Chloe

P.S: I hope you all have a good first week back at school/college!
